Why did I try the Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Renewing Body Gelee? I must admit that I’d never heard of the brand Arbonne before a friend became a consultant. When she initially showed me the catalogue of products I brushed the brand off. I assumed that they were another pyramid money making scheme for budding entrepreneurs to sell overpriced products I had no interest in.

However, when I was invited to an Arbonne party she was throwing. At this party, we’d get the opportunity to try some of the products first hand and get a little makeover. I was pretty interested and decided to head along and see what was what.

I had a really lovely evening and was actually quite taken with some of the products. However, I initially dismissed them all as being out of my price range. Some of the lipsticks were really pretty. But when you can purchase a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick for almost the same price there’s really no comparison in my eyes.

However, one product which was on display caught my eye. This was the Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Renewing Body Gelee. It’s a thick putty type body gel with soothing and cooling properties designed to soften, repair and smooth the skin.

This product is particularly great for cooling down after exercise. It also works for for repairing the skin after exposure to the sun. I was quite excited about this product, combined with the refreshing and inspirational brand ethos attached to Arbonne. T

hey focus on pure, botanically based ingredients and promise to help you feel like your best self. I was quite keen to give something from their range a try and hoped this could be it.

Having had a quick chat to the Arbonne consultant, she confirmed – “of course” you might think? – that this was actually her favourite product from the range. After her glowing review, it made me even more curious to try it.

The consultant was placing an order the following week and asked if I’d like to buy anything. A spur of the moment decision led me to adding one of the Renewing Body Gelee to the order.

How Did it Arrive?

Almost a week later and with a slightly lighter wallet (over £30 for some glorified after sun – I must have been feeling a little trigger happy with my debit card at this party – a well-documented and not-so-popular Arbonne phenomenon) my Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Renewing Body Gelee arrived. I was pleased to see it came in a hefty tub.

Thanks to the unique jelly style consistency of the product, it was clear to see that a little would go far. So, so far so good – despite a hefty cost, you get a fantastic amount of product for your money.

The Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Renewing Body Gelee is a gorgeous mint green shade. When you open the tub, the incredibly soothing smell of aloe vera hits you and it really is fantastic. It smells like a spa and has a calming scent that I just couldn’t wait to rub all over me. A quick swatch on my hand showed the product to have a cooling and tingling sensation on the skin to match!

I liberally applied the gelee all over after the shower and was simply infatuated with the scent. The consistency is really unique and feels incredibly luxurious as you rub it into the skin. It also seems to sink in pretty quickly, which is good.

The one thing I wasn’t quite prepared for, was the huge tingling sensation. A subtle tingling is always good. However, this is really quite something. I can truly imagine on a hot day this would be just the sensation you’re after. Just before bed when you feel like your entire body is covered in pins and needles? That’s when it truly takes you by surprise.

An unexpected use case

I actually sat in the garden and forgot the sunscreen, which left me with some seriously burnt shoulders. I liberally applied the Arbonne gelee and I can honestly say it was fantastic. It was instantly cooling, soothed my skin no end and my shoulders felt wonderful and smooth.

I’ve since used it a variety of different times. Now I know what to expect with the tingling sensation, I’ve become quite fond of the Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Renewing Body Gelee. It certainly doesn’t do anything mind blowing or really act much differently to your standard aftersun. However, it feels lovely to apply, smells amazing and does certainly leave my skin feeling soft.

I think if I were to go on holiday, I’d certainly be popping this product in my suitcase. It will be perfect to keep my skin hydrated after exposure to the sun. However, I was slightly curious about the ingredients in the Arbonne Seasource Detox Spa Renewing Body Gelee.

Arbonne and their consultants claim to be a completely natural brand with natural ingredients. Having said this, I didn’t think that my Renewing Body Gelee was drastically different to a standard after sun product. Could the ingredients be that different? It was time to dig a little deeper and do some research. I wanted to see if Arbonne are as natural as they claim to be.

What’s In The Product?

This is a company which markets itself on being pure, healthy and clean using natural ingredients. That’s why it’s pretty disappointing to see 6 ingredients on the list with a hazardous rating above 3. A few of them are listed as particularly dangerous, which is a far cry from the Arbonne mission statement.

For me personally, this feels dishonest from the brand. This actually bothers me more so than the actual potential risk of the ingredients themselves. I paid more than the high street average and bought into a brand with a healthy and natural ethos. It’s a shame that this now seemingly doesn’t ring quite so true.

Conclusion & Recommendation

I can’t say that I would recommend this product to a friend. Yes, I enjoyed the application and it is incredibly soothing. However, it doesn’t do anything that a good old-fashioned after sun product doesn’t do – for a lot less cost. I’m also put off by some of the hazardous ingredients featured. I personally believe there are lower budget products out there with safe ingredients that can achieve the same results.
